When You’ve Been on the Other Side

This one is pure vulnerability as I talk about the weight gain after losing 80 pounds in 14-weeks (something I do NOT recommend). I didn’t deal with the mental weight. I didn’t deal with the body image chatter or my disordered eating. I began working with a binge eating disorder therapist. I’ve learned so much and I share it with you here.

Fit Tip Friday: Rewrite Your Story

This is the story of how I won a $5,000 weight-loss contest. I lost nearly 80 pounds in 14 weeks. I do NOT recommend this approach. It was not healthy. It was not sustainable. However, I do not regret it. It really opened the door to my relationship with my body and food. It showed me what I was capable of. I learned how to meal prep, that I love it, and I still do that today. I did and still do rewrite my story every single day. I learned how to box and LOVE boxing. And I won – I was the first and only woman to win this local contest. They didn’t do the contest anymore after this. And I am glad for that. All the way down the scale I never addressed the MENTAL aspect of health and weight loss. That’s what I teach today and that’s what is helping me on my journey to long term health. But this is a fun piece nonetheless. Enjoy! I’d love to have your feedback on this issue.

Fit Tip Friday: Define, Know, and Respect Your Limits

I place a major caveat on this one: I had a lot of work to do around my relationship with food. I wrote this article BEFORE working with my binge eating disorder therapist and my life coach; so, if I were to re-write this today, it would be very different. So, keep that in mind as you read it. Today, I am not afraid of my relationship with food. I do not see it as an animal or tiger. I have learned that I can build a BEAUTIFUL relationship with and around food and myself every single day. I am not a food addict. I am not a victim to food. I have thoughts about food. That’s all. And I work on them every single day.
